This service is open to Skokie Public Library cardholders, including residents and business owners.

  • Researching a topic beyond Google using our subscription online research tools
  • Resources for small business owners
  • Local, state, and federal laws
  • Specific illnesses or health conditions

Is there anything I can’t get help with?

We cannot offer advice (e.g., medical, legal, investment) except to advise users of reputable sources of evaluative information. Also, we cannot offer troubleshooting or maintenance help with personal computers.

Do you offer help with job searches, resume assistance, and career support?

We have volunteers who assist people with career support and resume assistance. Please contact the reference desk to make an appointment. We also have a monthly career support group that meets in the Library. Please see our events calendar to find the next meeting.

Do you offer any instruction with computers or other technology topics?

For basic topics (e.g., email, mouse skills, Internet basics, managing files and folders), you can make a 1-on-1 appointment with a technology assistant. Please call 847.324.3179 or stop by the 2nd floor computer lab to make an appointment. Group technology classes on basic and more advanced classes are also offered. Please ask a librarian for a current schedule of classes.

For help with your eReader and/or downloading eBooks, you can make a 1-on-1 appointment with a member of the Readers' Services staff. Please call 847.324.3200, stop by the 1st floor Readers' Services Desk, or email askrs@skokielibrary.info to make an appointment.

Do you provide help with genealogy research?

We have a number of resources available at the Library and will be happy to let you know about them to help you get started. More advanced genealogy questions should be directed to genealogy specialists. Please let us know if you need help finding a specialist.

How long will the appointment be?

Each appointment will last approximately 30 minutes. Additional appointments can be requested with a maximum of two appointments per month.

How do I make an appointment?

Complete the form above with as much information as possible. Let us know what you would like help with and a time that is convenient for you. We will get in touch with you to confirm the appointment as soon as possible, but we require at least three days advance notice in most cases.

How do I check in to my appointment?

Visit the reference desk on the 2nd floor of the Library. Your personal librarian will meet you there and direct you to the meeting room you’ll be using.

No problem — just call the reference desk at 847.673.3733 as soon as you can. We can help you reschedule your appointment.
