Have you ever wondered how people read Braille? The sighted children who particpated in Braille Buddies were curious to know, so they sat down to learn from junior high student Matt J. and his itinerant teacher Ms. Palmer. Matt is blind, but he and his teaching assistants are avid readers and excellent teachers! After learning about the six positions of raised dots, everyone got a chance to write their name on a brailler and play a few rounds of Braille Bingo! Check our calendar to see if Braille Buddies will be offered this month!
Thank you to The Chicago Lighthouse for the use of the braillers and to Erika and Heidi Musser for initiating and planning Braille Buddies.
