Groundhog Fun
January 29, 2004
In celebration of Groundhog Day, the Youth Services Department welcomed a very special guest of honor - Miss Gertie Groundhog! After some groundhog stories, young groundhog enthusiasts searched the department for clues which led to Gertie's home. With some gentle coaxing, Gertie came out of hibernation and agreed to an interview, giving us a first-hand account of what it's like to be a groundhog. Then she helped us make pop-up groundhog puppets in the Craft Room. We had so much fun we didn't even mind that Gertie saw her shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter! Take a look!
