Young People's Poetry Contest
April 2002
In celebration of National Poetry Month in April 2002, and National Library Week from April 14th through 20th, local students in grades 3 through 8 were invited to participate in the Skokie Public Library's Young People's Poetry contest.
Students were invited to submit three original poems. Many children
submitted poems on their own, and some classrooms took on the contest as a
class project.
Entries were judged in three categories: 3rd and 4th grades, 5th and 6th
grades, and 7th and 8th grades.
Congratulations to our First Place and Honorable Mention poets! Click the title to read the poem.
