Summer Reading Club: A Mid-Summer Knight's Read!
June 1 through July 31, 2011
The Youth Services Department is proud to present our 2011 summer reading club, A Mid-Summer Night's Read, a fun way for kids keep their reading skills sharp during summer vacation. The club runs from June 1 through July 31 for children from birth through 8th grade.
Read-with-Me Members (babies through grade 2)
Visit the Library or the Bookmobile to sign up and receive your book log. Check in four more times and complete the following program goals:
Read or listen to ten books at home and record your progress in your book log.- Bring your book log to the Library or the Bookmobile to report your progress.
After four reporting visits and a total of 40 books read, you will receive rewards and a chance to win a gift basket.
Independent Readers (grades 2 through 6)
Visit the Library or the Bookmobile to sign up and receive your book log. Check in four more times and complete the following program goals:
- Pull the sword from the stone and be guided to your first nonfiction book. Check out this book and two more of your choice from Skokie Public Library.
- Read the books at home and record your progress in your book log.
- Bring your book log to the Library or the Bookmobile to report your progress.
After four reporting visits and a total of 12 books read, you will receive rewards and a chance to win a gift basket.
Contract Club Members (grades 6 through 8)
Visit the Library or the Bookmobile to sign up and receive your book log. Check in four more times and complete the following program goals:
- Sign a contract to read at least 1,000 pages by July 31, 2011.
- Read the books at home and record your progress in your book log.
- Bring your book log to the Library or the Bookmobile to report your progress.
After four reporting visits and a total of 1,000 pages read, you will receive rewards and a chance to win a gift basket.
