A Sonnet

A teardrop rolled slowly down her face
as the eyes of her peers tore her apart.
Alone, afraid, and out of place
Isolated, she sat alone with her broken heart.
Unforgiving stares piercing her
In ways that could never be explained,
The cruel stares, so sure
From the perfect faces, so well maintained.
Hiding behind her fears
Yet revealed all the same,
Unafraid of showing her tears
The desired result of a cruel child’s game.
A lonely child so afraid,
Isolated, she sat, utterly betrayed.
