Teen Poetry Contest Winner for 2007
East Prairie School, grade 6
I glide along the sidelines.
Everyone is cheering for me,
Even the ball is cheering.
The ball hugs my feet,
Number 7 carries it towards the goal.
The ball hangs on for dear life,
For it fears it will be stolen.
The ball supports me all of the way.
I take it to its rightful place, the goal.
It helps me dodge the robbers.
They are trying to steal my prized possession.
The ball gives me a hopeful feeling,
I let it go on its own.
I watch proudly as it settles in,
Dodging any criminals, to its new home.
